Every year the Charity and host families arrange and give homes to these children, who through no fault of their own, live in part of the worlds most toxic and life threatening radioactive areas. The time spent in the UK away from the radioactive environment enables their bodies immune system to recover. This short time of respite could prove to be the difference between life and death for some of theses children.
We have been lucky enough to play our part both professionally and as host parents, and as ever, the kids are truly an amazing fantastic bunch!
It was a pleasure to welcome the children from the Chernobyl Children's Lifeline charity who are staying with host families in the Lincoln area over the next month.
These children live in Belarus, one of the areas most heavily affected from the aftermath of the world's worst nuclear disaster in Chernobyl in 1986. Belarus received 70% of the radioactive fallout from the disaster and as a result many children develop many serious and life-threatening illnesses.
The children attended a special clinic in Gainsborough with optician Sham this morning to have full in-depth eye examinations & to choose new spectacles if needed.
